2/7 5 days old

The day started very early . we had an appointment in the city at 9 so we had to leave around 6 . I felt really bad for Stephen's  mom and dad , they hardly had any sleep at all ( ah the joys of having a newborn ) anyway we actually arrive at the eye clinic early so we checked in and of course there were tons of papers to fill out after all who to bill is so dang important lol .we had been sitting maybe 30 minutes before being called back . it was a two fer appointment since my son clinton had an appointment at  the same time  as skylo . anyway they did clintons exam and he was done pretty quick then it was Stephens turn  . they laid the little guy on his mom's lap and had to hold his eyes open . needless to say he was not a happy baby . i really think that even at that point the doc knew what was up , they wanted to dialate his eyes so he could get a good look at the back of his eyes . so back on moms lap again with mom holding his arms and legs down and the nurse holding his head still they put these things under his eye lids to keep his eyes open and let me tell you he was screaming . it only took about a minute or so before the feel of the entire room changed . I don't remember his exact words but when the Dr said not only did skylo have congenital cataracts but also tumor es in both eyes from retinalblastoma the room just felt like a train rain through it . mom and dad started to cry and so did grandma . it was the most horrible feeling to be told this precious little boy had cancer , things moved really fast after that . we had to immediately take him to get a CT scan , then we had to take him to the oncology clinic  . it was decided that he would be put to sleep in the morning to have a better exam and to put a PICK line in as well as have a lumbar puncture and a bone marrow biopsy to check if the cancer was any place else in his tiny little body , o yeah we were also told he would need at least six months of chemotherapy , lets just say that was one horrible day . I felt so sorry for nina she was a mess truth be told so was I . it was like we were in a nightmare that you just cant seem to wake up from , what made matters worse was that my husband and I had to leave since he had work that night . it was horrible leaving them there , luckily big Stephens family were coming down to be with them  , they got a motel room for the night , I'm sure nobody really got much rest , I know I sure didn't
